Following the triple j First Play and DSP release of their new single 'I Gotta (Fall in Love)' last night, Double Drummer is thrilled to announce our newest signing - rapidly rising Melbourne-based post-punk/indie pop band Radio Free Alice.

Made up of four 21 year olds, the band's angular sound feels fresh and immediate – guitars with clean tones and clever notes, melodic bass lines, urgent drum beats, the occasional sax, and an operatic swagger that sounds like it was honed in a New York art school rather than in suburban Australia.

Already selling out shows in their home town and across the east coast, Radio Free Alice combine an unlikely set of influences that includes '80s titans The Smiths and The Sunny Boys, alongside more recent reference points like Parquet Courts, Ought and The Strokes.

Their first release through Double Drummer – 'I Gotta (Fall in Love)' – is a hooky blast of up tempo post-punk goodness that stays with you long after its brief 90 second odd run time. Frontman Noah Learmonth says of the track "'I Gotta (Fall In Love)' is a song about feeling awkward at bad nightclubs and wanting to fall in love. It's about the frustrations we feel towards the act of communicating who we truthfully are to those we are attracted to."

With their unconventional, yet immediate sound, Radio Free Alice has clearly hit a nerve early, with their first two singles racking up over 200K streams across the DSPs and capturing the attention of some sought-after tastemakers.

Double Drummer Managing Director Tim Prescott said the following of the band "Radio Free Alice stand out in the current landscape. They're different. You can hear the reference points and the rich history of guitar pop in their sound; but the combination of influences feels fresh and unique. We're incredibly excited to be working with them."
