Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird Announce Release of Second Album New Romancer

New single/video ‘Best Face To London’ out today

Get ready for a heartbreak album unlike any you’ve heard before. We’re thrilled to announce that New Romancer, the sophomore record from Melbourne chameleons Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird will be released on August 30 worldwide through Double Drummer/AWAL. The band also have a new single and video out today – ‘Best Face to London’.

Frontman Lachlan Rose says; “In the building world, “Best Face to London” means to present the best materials at the front of a house, concealing the less attractive materials. The song is a celebration of the human, emotional tendency to do the same – a reassuring nod to all the brave faces stepping out into the world every day.”

The track was a set highlight from the band’s recent inaugural headline tour of the UK, in which they performed packed showcases at The Great Escape, as well as successful headline shows in London, Dublin, Manchester and Glasgow. This is also off the back of their recent headline Australian tour which saw them fill rooms the size of The Corner in Melbourne and Oxford Art Factory in Sydney.

Recorded partly in Melbourne, partly in LA, the new album New Romancer was produced and mixed by Matt Neighbour (The Avalanches, Courtney Barnett, Matt Corby). Written by Rose following the break-up of a longterm relationship, it arrives just 18 months after their debut LP Electric Brown. The new record is Cousin Tony’s strongest and most cohesive work to date, while still retaining the incredible stylistic diversity that they are known for.

‘Best Face To London’ is available today on all platforms. The new Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird album, New Romancer, will be released August 30.
