“It’s hard to imagine someone like Dominic Breen playing small venues around Sydney much longer.” – Life Without Andy

“Breen possesses the understated ability to translate life in a poignantly endearing way. Captivating." – Dani Hansen, Happy

Produced by Tim Fitz from Middle Kids and mixed by Nick Franklin (Clews, Polish Club), ‘Ashfield’ is the moving new single from rapidly rising Sydney troubadour Dominic Breen

Following its triple j premiere this week on Home & Hosed with Declan Byrne, the song was released today through Double Drummer/AWAL and is lifted from his forthcoming second EP rattlin, due September 6. It was immediately added to Spotify’s ‘Broad Chords’ and Apple Music’s ‘Best of the Week’.

Told from the perspective of someone trying to salvage a relationship that they know is beyond repair, the song’s title serves as a double entendre for both the Sydney suburb and "a field of ash”. When asked for his own take on the track, Breen simply called it “a song I chose to record."

Ashfield’ is the follow up to popular previous single ‘Love is Everywhere We Go’, which was added to rotation on FBi, 2SER and triple j Unearthed radio. Both songs will feature on the upcoming EP.

After just one EP to date, Breen’s distinct sound has already turned plenty of heads, with his song ‘Sydney Kids’ being chosen by Ben Folds as one of his favourite Unearthed songs of last year and his video for ‘Lay Low’ starring acclaimed actor Richard Roxburgh in the first music video of his three decade career.
