Georgia Mulligan teases new album with first single 'Unheaven'
“Georgia’s songs will ruin your dance party, but they will enhance your life. She sings with the courageous honesty of a true artist.”
Today, acclaimed Sydney-based singer-songwriter Georgia Mulligan returns with 'Unheaven', the powerful title track and lead single from her forthcoming second album. The song marks a bold new chapter in Mulligan’s journey — one defined by vulnerability, surrender, and a quiet, revelatory strength.
Described by fans as “otherworldly” and by critics as one of Australia’s most affecting indie voices, Mulligan’s unique vocal timbre and emotional clarity have drawn comparisons to folk rock icons such as Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez. But her sound and presence are entirely her own — both timeless and contemporary.
“Unheaven is a song about letting go,” says Mulligan. “I wrote it after a period of feeling helpless. At some point I realised that we are not actually ‘supposed’ to be in control — and it’s okay. And that sometimes you can let go. And let the air hold you. I was thinking about how an aeroplane stays up — and how that’s so crazy. And the only way to get through the fear (if you get scared, like I do) is to let go. And let the air hold you.”
Live, Georgia Mulligan is magnetic. Though softly spoken off stage, she commands attention the moment she begins to play and sing — silencing rooms with her quiet power and deeply emotive songs. Audiences describe being left in “respect and wonder” as her voice transforms intimate venues into sacred spaces of shared emotion.
'Unheaven' reintroduces Georgia to the world after the critical success of her 2023 debut album Nothing Wrong, and signals a period of renewed creativity. Several new singles will follow ahead of the full album release later in 2025, each expanding on her signature themes of surrender, self-reckoning, and resilience.
This is not just a new single. It’s a quiet reawakening.
